Welcome friend, We are glad you have taken the time to look at our Facebook page! Bella Vista Lutheran Church stands as testament to God’s grace poured out on the people of Bella Vista. We are a vital Lutheran Christian congregation with a history of providing excellent worship opportunities to our community. We stand on that history and are looking toward the future with excitement at what God is doing in our midst! We are a Gospel church. That means that we are an instrument of God’s grace. We are to bring Good News of salvation to the suffering sinner and lost soul through the preaching of God’s Word. We tell the story of Jesus and His love for us. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). We are blessed to share the Good News of His grace and forgiveness. And we are reminded of the importance of God’s grace in Jesus Christ. As St. Paul tells us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). With all of life in constant motion around us, it is easy for us to forget that God loves us. This is why we must return time and time again to hear His Word for our assurance, to hear Him say again, “I love you.” It is my prayer that Bella Vista Lutheran Church be known to you, and throughout our community, for the sharing this Good News in our Savior, Jesus Christ. To God be the Glory! In Christ, Pastor Paul Hass Our Staff: Paul Hass, Pastor Chuck Merriman, Family Life Minister Our Vision Statement Out of thankfulness for God’s love in Jesus Christ, who has blessed us by His grace both past and present, we are compelled, with all of our strength and tireless effort, to share God’s love with all people in our community. Accordingly our primary mission focus will be families and youth. Our Mission Connect people to Christ. Grow in love towards God and others. Serve others in Jesus’ name.

SONDAY RIDERS THIS COMING SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH, AT 2PM The old saying goes, "If you pray for rain bring an umbrella." Likewise if you "pray for good weather bring your motorcycle." Let's meet in the Church parking lot at 2:00 for introductions and ride info with KSU (Kick Stands Up) shortly thereafter. We will take a scenic trek for a couple of hours and end at the Las Fajitas Mexican Restaurant in beautiful Bella Vista for some food and fellowship. A good portion of the ride will be in Missouri -- so bring a helmet. It promises to be an awesome event. All 2, 3, and 4-wheel rides are welcome!!!
Changing of the guard. Good bye summer, hello autumn! It may be 85 degrees today but it is officially fall in our household. I have put away the fire engine red loafers and the seersucker sport coat. I will pray for bright colored leaves, cool evenings and a pumpkin pie in every kitchen. Thank you God for Your creation and the seasons that note the passage of time until you return. Amen! We will commence in the celebration of the next, most important season by marking it with this wreath. Welcome Fall 2018! For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)
Our friends at Lutheran Hour Ministries have a daily devotion worthy of our attention. Today's devotion I share here because it is well written and also because it is our Epistle lesson for this coming Sunday. Read, mark and inwardly digest the Word of the Lord. Amen! https://www.lhm.org/dailydevotions/default.asp?date=20180905
From this week's Gospel reading Mark 7:24-30. The devil is no match for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Devil be gone! And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden. But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell down at his feet. Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. And he said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.” And he said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.” And she went home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone.
Bella Vista has just received a grant to build 50 more miles of trails in the beauty of God's creation. That will total 100 miles of world class biking/running/walking trails in Bella Vista that connects to another 150 miles of trails throughout NWA. We live in a gorgeous setting here in NWA and we have now yet another reason to go out in it and admire what the Creator has provided us. “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?" (Job 12:7-9)
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:1-2)
Luther gives a good reminder to our pastor not to sugarcoat the Law (and also to shower us with the Gospel). But also a reminder to those of us who sit in the pews to recognize our sinful nature.
Lord have mercy...
Happiness is the new rich. Inner peace is the new success. Health is the new wealth. Kindness is the new cool. Found this as I scrolled through the virtual world; not exactly Scriptural but we could find it's antecedent in the Bible. May your week ahead be filled with God's rich blessings. May the Holy Spirit present opportunities to display the fruit of the Spirit and spread joy to all. (Galatians 5:22-23) Amen!
On my walk today I noted this old church still surviving in my neighborhood. Was a time when they were everywhere. Now they are restaurants or torn down in the name of development. Old timey neighborhood churches still exist though. They are few and far in between; dwindling, weathered and looking less vibrant. Still the #Gospel prevails. The light upon a hill shall never be extinguished. #church #Godisnotdead #Christ
A wisdom message from our friends at CPH - This quote is a reflection from our OT lesson from today; Proverbs 9:1-10 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says, “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways,[a] and live, and walk in the way of insight.” Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction[b] to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
The most beautiful sunrise in the world is the one dawning before you. "He dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth." 2 Samuel 23:4

The Power of the Cross of Jesus Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. (Acts 3:6-10)
